Bridge Inspections via UAS

Gathering, analyzing and extracting crucial data from bridge inspections can be a challenging task, which is decisive for decision making in asset management.

Infrastructure Management Consultants GmbH is investigating the utilization of state-of-the-art drone (UAS) technology for bridge inspections. In our pilot projects, we are implementing UAS in combination with artificial intelligence for element segmentation and damage detection on different bridge types & geometries at various locations.

The video shows the “digital twin” of the bridge « Pont de Carouge » in Geneva. The 3D geometric model (i.e. the point cloud) and the mesh-textured model (i.e. digital elevation) have potential for various applications in e.g. CAD software, BIM format sharing, and can be particularly useful in damage prognosis, detailed statical analysis, repair design, etc.
